3D Design and Visualisation

Seeing a pergola on a brochure page tells you very little about how it will look on your house. We render the design into your own garden, at the right proportions, before a single component is ordered.

Before, Not After

Why We Visualise Every Project

Almost nobody can read a dimension. Tell a client the structure is 6m by 4m and stands 2.7m at the gutter and they will nod, and then be surprised on installation day. Show them the same structure rendered against their own back wall, with their own doors and their own fence line, and the conversation changes completely. People move posts, change colours and add a bay at that point, which is exactly when changes are free.

Our visualisations are built from the survey, so the proportions are real. The house elevation, the patio size, the door positions and the boundary distances all come off measurements rather than guesswork. What you are looking at is the structure we would actually manufacture, not an idealised version of it in a garden three times the size.

The same model is then used to test the things that are hard to imagine: where the shadow falls at four in the afternoon, whether the louvres read as too dominant in anthracite, how much of the lawn a wider bay really takes. It is a decision making tool rather than a sales picture, which is why we include it with every design consultation instead of charging for it.

What You Receive

What Is Included in the Visualisation

  • Measured 3D model of the structureBuilt from the site survey using real component dimensions, so spans, heights and post positions are the ones we would install.
  • Your elevation, not a generic oneThe render is set against your house, your doors and your boundary, which is the only way to judge proportion honestly.
  • Colour and finish optionsThe same view in two or three RAL finishes, because anthracite and black look very different against brick and render.
  • Roof and screen positionsLouvres open and closed, screens up and down, so you can see both states rather than the flattering one.
  • An evening view with lightingIntegrated LED rendered at dusk, which is when most people actually use the space.
  • Unlimited revisionsMove a post, widen a bay, change the colour. Changes at this stage cost nothing.
The Process

How the Visualisation Gets Made

01

Site Survey

Measurements taken from the building and the ground: elevations, door heads, patio falls, boundary distances and services.

02

Model Build

The structure is modelled to those measurements using the manufacturer's real component sizes.

03

Context and Materials

Your house, paving and boundary are built around it so the proportions can be judged in context.

04

Lighting and Time of Day

Daylight and evening views produced, with the integrated lighting scheme rendered in.

05

Review and Revise

We walk you through it, you tell us what is wrong, and we change it. Repeat as needed.

06

Sign Off to Manufacture

The approved model becomes the specification the frame is manufactured to.

Honest About Imagery

Which Pictures Are Real and Which Are Renders

We think this distinction matters, so we make it clearly.

Photographs Are Real Projects

Every photograph in our gallery and across this site is a pergola our own team installed for a customer. None of them are stock images.

Renders Are Labelled

Images produced as design visualisations, including some illustrative imagery on our service pages, are described as renders or visualisations and never presented as completed work.

Your Render Is Yours Alone

The visualisation we produce for you is built from your survey. We do not reuse another customer's garden and relabel it.

Questions

3D Design and Visualisation FAQs

Do you charge for the 3D design?
No. The consultation, the site survey, the design and the 3D visualisation are all free, and you can revise the design as often as you want. We would rather you changed your mind five times on screen than once on installation day.
How accurate is the visualisation?
The structure itself is accurate because it is built from the survey measurements and the manufacturer's component sizes. Planting, furniture and surrounding detail are indicative. We are always clear about which parts of an image are measured and which are illustrative.
Can you visualise the whole garden, not just the pergola?
Yes. Where we are also designing the terrace, levels, lighting or planting we render the whole scheme, because the structure and the ground it sits on are one decision. That is usually the point at which people stop thinking about a pergola and start thinking about the garden.
Can I see the lighting effect at night?
Yes. Evening renders are genuinely useful because integrated LED changes how a structure reads after dark far more than people expect, and it is the setting most customers use it in.
How long does it take to produce?
Usually a few working days after the survey. Revisions are quicker. If you are working to a deadline, tell us and we will work to it.
Do I own the design if I do not go ahead?
The visualisation is produced as part of our quotation, so it stays ours, but there is no cost and no obligation. Plenty of people take a design away, think about it for a season and come back the following spring.
